Anticipate changes in wind conditions to optimize ENERGY+ energy planning.

Discover how wind speed, direction, and variability are shifting—now and until 2060

Key features

ENERGY+ provides robust predictions of wind speed and direction to help evaluate climate change impact on asset performance.

Developers and investors can evaluate wind resources under historical conditions and across four SSP climate scenarios to understand long-term risks and opportunities. With 6-hourly time resolution and wind data at 100m, 150m, and 200m, assess resource variability at turbine-relevant levels.

Built from the latest CMIP6 climate models, ENERGY+ ensures comprehensive coverage of plausible futures in any location worldwide. All data is calibrated against 40 years of high-resolution Vortex data.

ENERGY+ provides a clear synthesis report for EYA. Quantify the impact of climate change on wind resource availability to support more accurate financial modeling and investment assessments, enhancing the decision-making process for ENERGY+ users.

Deliverables

CSV - Full time series
6-hourly time series for 18-24 GCMs among 4 climate scenarios delivered through the ENERGY+platform for seamless integration into analytical workflows.

PDF - Synthesis ready forEYA
Including the main aspects of past and future data: seasonal and long-term changes, sector-specific wind power density, and much more with expanded ENERGY+ insights for clearer interpretation.

Temporal and Spacial resolution

Energy+ provides wind speed and direction every 6 hours with a spatial resolution of 3km.

This level of resolution enables realistic modeling of wind speed and direction distributions, improving risk assessments and supporting ENERGY+-driven optimization of asset performance.

True Hub-Height Data

ENERGY+ delivers a more robust approach by leveraging wind data at the native vertical levels of climate models.

Traditionally, projections for wind speed are derived from surface wind outputs, however, research shows this method brings multiple caveats, including artifacts from vertical extrapolation.

ENERGY+ avoids theselimitations by using native vertical levels, providing a more realistic landimpact on the wind patterns and ensuring higher-fidelity ENERGY+ projections.

Powered by Vortex

At the heart of ENERGY+ lies our partnership with Vortex FDC, a 20-year wind resource leader. This premium dataset allows us to calibrate and downscale GCM outputs down to the asset level.

In this process, a 40-year Vortex time series is used to calibrate the climate model results at every hub height provided.

The result: projections that are more reliable, precise, and tailored to real-world wind energy assets. ENERGY+ combines these advances into a unified framework, increasing confidence in windspeed and direction projections and giving developers and investors the best current data to evaluate future risk.
